The DLC youth season will start on March 6. The first session will be a parents/players meeting in the Community Room at Action Sports (on first floor in the Northeast corner).  Please bring your US Lacrosse membership card and equipment to the meeting.  Limited equipment will be available to borrow during the first meeting if you haven’t purchased equipment beforehand.

The theme for this season is FUNdamentals.  Players should learn, practice, and play lacrosse in a safe environment they enjoy.  This enables them to develop both their abilities and a love for the game to share with others and carry into future seasons.

During sessions, players will be able to learn and develop skills.  Many fundamentals are similar regardless of gender.  Player will be together for those activities.  We will divide the players by gender to work on boys and girls specific skills.  In addition to Tuesday sessions, players will attend a total of 1 to 2 games at the middle school or high school level.  The intent is for our players to learn by observing the “older kids,” and get them excited about what they can expect in future seasons.

Whether a player and/or parent is new to lacrosse, please take a few moments to read about boys and girls lacrosse at the youth level.  Information provided by US Lacrosse is available at the websites below.

2012 BOYS K - 2 PRACTICES

October  - Submitted by pjv

Practices will all take place at Action Sports, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, possibly Wednesdays.  Time will be announced.

As a club team we are at a disadvantage when it comes to a pre-season conditioning program.  So the responsibility will lie with each player to get himself ready for the start of the season

Here's some things you should be doing.

 3 times a week:

- Run

- Do sprints

- Push-ups

- Sit-ups

- Hand squeezes with each hand--use either a tennis ball or a hand-gripper device.

You can do all of these with out any specialized equipment and should be able to accomplish this routine in less than 1 hour.  You might have to bundle up due to the weather, but it will pay dividends once the season starts.

Also, take advantage of any opportunity you have to get outside to improve your stick work--cradling, groundballs, catch, wall work, etc.
